Procrastination? Me…?

May 20, 2009

Emergency, emergency!

Polly Pierce of Vinca Cards makes a shocking discovery. As she opens each of her blogs on Internet Explorer the truth of her neglect begins to appear before her very eyes. Procrastination may be the thief of time but, it appears it is also the thief of Google Page Rankings …

After months and months of sheer neglect, Polly Pierce decided to log into her WordPress.com account to check it out and carry out some essential maintenance. To her horror, Microsoft Internet Explorer Pierce revealed that she has been stripped of her Google page ranking…

On a day to day basis Pierce uses Explore’s main rival for the internet browser of the year title; Mozilla Firefox. In most instances, Firefox proves to be the better choice for most applications required by our intrepid blogger. However, the Google page ranking bar plug-in on Firefox has proven to be inaccurate and misleading in the past. This has led to confusion and its having been de-installed…

Consequently Pierce has not been following her page rankings on a regular basis. It being too much trouble to log in occasionally to check these out, Pierce was shocked with this morning’s discovery.

So, ladies and gentlemen of the blogosphere;

“…if I were to offer you one piece of advice it would be keep an eye on your ratings, as well as your stats. Do not neglect your blogs as I have done and keep in touch with your readers on a regular basis.

Posting regularly doesn’t have to entail daily posts. How regularly you post is up to you, it could be that 2-3 times per week suits, just once a week, or even once a month. Regardless of the schedule you choose make sure that you stick to it, otherwise your blog will soon become redundant…”

Genuinely interested readers will follow your content regardless of how often you post. This is true of some of the more popular blogs, with readers checking regularly in eager anticipation of the next exciting entry.

While ‘content is (definitely) King’ regularity is more even more important. Even the most dedicated of fans will eventually stop calling in if there’s nothing new for them to read.

Complacency, being too busy, lack of time management, whatever your excuse put it to one side and get on with it…
